Can there be something more beautiful than hanging on the rocks for a long time? For many climbers certainly not!
When the weather forecast for the Pentecost weekend announced bright sunshine, the invitation to the climbing came from Bonn. Since I eh again had to go back to the good old home of NRW, I immediately thrown my climbing equipment into the car and drove the 450 km home.
On the way back we went on an extensive stopover into the climbing area Ettringen, where the rock almost sabbernd after its conquerors reached. We went to Mordor, which was closed until May 1st. Since the bad weather prevailed, our routes were still full of dirt, which had not been cleaned. So this work remained with us. After the first slippery attempts on the loose dirt hold, we had the turn out soon and the important handles rough cleaned.
It was really great fun once again to get out of the hall into the rock. Climbing in nature makes 1000 times more fun.
Towards evening, we rounded off the first day with a hearty barbecue to take us back to the rocks the next morning at half past eight. Overnight we have at the campsite Siesta, which is very recommendable:

There is a sufficiently large zeltwiese, as well as sanitary installations, which correspond to the standard. The distance to the climbing area is about 10 km. There is also the possibility to stay directly at the Kettergebiet. There, Schäfer family will provide a trolley for 6 € per person. However, we had not reached anyone in advance.
The next morning we also saw that two mobile homes were still standing at the parking lot.
The Climbing Area Ettringen
On the edge of the river Eifel lies a quiet basalt rock quarry, which offers a variety of crack climbing courses. The old hoists and conveyor towers around the Abbaugruben give their rest to the flair of this beautiful area. There are many routes from the 5th difficulty level, all of which have their charm.
Parking is available directly at the site, so you can reach all places in 5-10 minutes. Many of the routes are described by climbers Black Columns, which is really recommendable.
The climbing area is a real recommendation for all who live in the Eifelraum according to Newvilleoutdoor. Even people from Bavaria were there! I will also perhaps put the one or the other intermediate stop there when I am once again on the way to my old home. For anyone who needs more information I recommend the side of the climbing area Ettringen:
